St. Christopher’s Church Holy Name Society promotes the honor and glory of our Divine God and the personal sanctification of its members by acts of love and devotion to the most Holy Name of Jesus. The spirited life of its members is a perpetual act of reverence and love.
The Society also serves the needs of our parish through various fundraising and related activities. We meet every 2nd Sunday for our monthly Communion Breakfast after attending the 9:00 A.M. Mass.
Since the fall of 2004, our fundraisers have generated approximately $34,000, of which $21,000 has been donated to our parish, school, parish organizations, Good Counsel Home; Knights of Columbus sponsored Lourdes trips, right to Life, SI Volunteer Ambulance, Boy Scout Eagle project and other such works. these donations have taken many forms, from paying for snow removal, sponsoring Right to Life essay projects or directly to the specific organization.
Additionally , we have spent almost $750 on remembrances of various members of our parish community in times of need.
We will have provided some $8,000 in scholarships for students of St. Christopher;s school through the annual membership raffle. Each year, we provide $2,000 in such scholarships. In the past 2 years, members who have won and do not have children in the school have donated $5, 500 to families at the school.
Finally, the school improvement and tuition fund (Lotto Lot) had its roots in the Holy Name Society and from 1999 through 2007 it raised close to $150,000 which was used to replace most of the windows in the school building, defray tuition increases and fuel bills as well as pay for some computer equipment.
As noted above, it is through your gemerosity that was have been able to accomplish what we have and we depend on that as we continue our work. In addition, we need new members. The future of our Society and the good of the parish depend upon it.
