For those of you familiar with RSS feeds the following will be of no interest to you as I’m sure you already subscribe using a reader such as google, bloglines etc.
However, for those of you not familiar with RSS feeds and In an effort to make it easier for you to keep up-to-date with events and the daily happenings at the school, you now have the option to subscribe to St. Christopher’s Website via email updates.
By submitting your email address in the form located on the left, and putting a check mark in the ’subscribe’ box, you will be sent an email ‘EVERY TIME’ a post is published or updated on the site. How often you receive emails is up for discussion, every time something new is posted might be a little to much, and I might change it to emails twice a day, both times after 3P.M.
It’s a great addition to the site, and will ensure you never miss an important event, fund raiser or homework assignment.
This is a new feature and I’d like some input or suggestions so I’m leaving the comment section open. If you’d rather email me instead of leaving a comment below, my email link is also on the left hand side of this page.
It is recommended you become a registered user of the site in order to take advantage of the added benefits.
As a registered member you can configure your profile . You will be able to comment on posts that allow comments, and you will have the option to only subscribe to those categories that pertain to you and your child/ren and decide if you want the full updates emailed to you or just an extract of the post. Only subscribing to important categories will significantly cut down on the email alerts.
ie. If you only have one child in 3rd grade, it’s of no benefit for you to get email alerts when another grade posts homework or class reminders.
You can un-subscribe to site alerts at any time by going to your profile and un-checking all the categories or by logging out and putting a check mark in the un-subscribe box and submitting it with you email.

In an effort to better increase communication and become more cost efficient, St. Christopher’s hopes to become paperless by January.
All memos, reminders and school information will be posted here on the school website as well as daily homework for each grade. No longer will you have to deal with your child’s folder filled with paperwork.
The category list located on the left hand side of the page will be the easiest way for you to navigate around the site. All 4th grade homework will be in the ‘4th grade’ category, 8th grade homework under ‘8th grade’ etc. However, just because the homework will be posted daily on the website by no means relinquishes the responsibility of your child/ren to write down their homework assignments in their books each day.
Most of the information usually sent home from school will be under a new category ‘memos’ and ‘announcements’ which will include information about pizza lunch, bake sales, fund raisers and the like. ‘Our Lady’s Guild’ will have their own category.
If any information posted here requires a response from you, the ‘tear off’ portion that you would normally send back to the school will be placed online for you to download and print, or you can simply write the required information on a piece of paper from home and send into school with your child as usual. EG. The pizza lunch tear off can be found here
Starting toward the end of September we will begin posting more information on the website, and hopefully by January you will be more familiar with the site, and will have become used to checking it every day.
For those of you without computers or internet access at home, please let Mrs. Giannelli know in plenty of time so she can make a list of those who will still need to receive paper reminders and bulletins.
Mrs. Falabella will discuss our plans at the ‘Back to School’ meeting and of course a note will be sent home informing you of the changes in the way we would like to keep you informed.

Every incoming second grader received a homework packet which included math sheets and a reading assignment. Students are to read 6 books or 3 chapter books and write at least 3 sentences about what they have read. Read every day and I’ll see you on September 3rd!

Re – summer math. assignment
It has been brought to my attention that some of the work in the assignment has not yet been covered. Work that was not taught in 4th grade can be omitted and the students will not be penalized.
For example:
Page 19, #’s 15 and 19
Page 23, #’s 13 through 18
Thank you, and enjoy the remainder of your summer. I look forward to working with your children in September.
